Let’s Talk About That

Good morning people,

Today I am writing a post about my newest obsession. I probably have way too many of those in my life but hey, when you love something, sometimes you just have to share it with, well, everyone. When I love something, I really get invested in it. I have to learn everything about it and this has been no exception. I have recently discovered, and I’m really not sure why I have just now discovered it but anyway, I have recently discovered a little internet show called Good Mythical Morning. Let me just say I have become absolutely obsessed with this show. It is absolutely hilarious. It’s also been on YouTube for quite some time and so I have an enormous amount of content to catch up on. I have basically been binge watching nothing else for the last two weeks and still haven’t even begun to scratch the surface. These guys are so funny and they seem so down to earth and relatable and wholesome. The story of their friendship is just the sweetest thing, to think two guys from a tiny little place in North Carolina, my home state by the way, who have been friends since first grade can make it where they are now, is inspiring. Their show is a mix of all kinds of different things, taste tests, challenges, talk show, comedy skits and music videos. It’s probably one of the best things I’ve seen on YouTube and I don’t think anything else on YouTube makes me laugh like these guys do. I have literally laughed until I’ve cried watching some of their crazy antics. It’s great and while I wouldn’t say it’s completely squeaky clean I think it could be a show you could watch with the whole family. If you like light-hearted comedy, I definitely recommend if you haven’t seen it. I’m guessing by now, most everyone has and I’m just really late to the game, they do have over 13 million subscribers.

Anyway, that’s my post for today. If you haven’t seen this show yet, I recommend giving it a watch. Have any of you seen this show? What are your thoughts? Feel free to leave a comment below. Hope everyone is having an amazing day and as always thanks for reading.

Let Me Explain

macbook air flower bouquet and magazines on white table

Hello,

So, I realize it has been a hot minute since I have uploaded a blog post.  For that, I am very sorry.  I guess you could call this a life update since I need to explain why it seemed like I just fell off the face of the earth for a while.  Well, basically, I got a job.  I took a job that was technically just supposed to be part time but wound up being essentially a full time job and while I realize people do blog and have other jobs at the same time, I just couldn’t seem to keep it up.  The job itself wasn’t bad, I got to meet all kinds of different people and I made some new friends there and it got me out of the house and I had less time to sit and think.  I was also making money which is always a plus.  However, the schedule was crazy, the days were long, the hours were all over the place so I never had a set schedule of when I worked and when I had days off.  Also, while it’s exciting to work with the public and I consider myself a people person, people aren’t always very nice.  All my days started to run together and most of the time I never even knew what day it was and the few days I did have off I wanted to spend it with my family which I was seeing less and less of.  I realize this is what most people that have a public job experience every day and I don’t want it to seem like I’m whining about it, just explaining where I have been all this time.  As much as I wanted to continue blogging it just wasn’t working.  I started this blog first of all because I loved to write and I like talking but I can’t say I wasn’t hoping it would turn into something more and I might actually start making money from it.  That hasn’t happened and sadly, I had to get a job that paid actual money.  However, after much consideration, lots of stress and a few tears I have decided to leave that job and I am once again back at home searching for something else.  I hate to be picky but I would just like a job that I actually enjoy and don’t dread going to everyday.  Does such a thing actually exist?  At this point, I’m not so sure.  If any of you out there have any tips or advice on turning a blog into a career I would love to hear any and all of your thoughts.  I know that is what I would really love to do.  To have the ability to work from home, writing, sharing things I enjoy and all the while being able to contribute to our income in some way.  Since being back home it’s been really hard to get back into the mindset of wanting to blog again after being gone for so long.  Has anyone else experienced that after taking a break from blogging?  I know if I want to turn this into something I have to figure out what I want it to be, work hard and be consistent with it.  The fact that people actually read my blog means the world to me and I’ve been so thankful for all the views and comments I was getting on it when I was uploading consistently.  Every time I would hear that little notification bell I would get so excited and it truly made me so happy.  At this point I know that if I really want to make something out of this I have to do something, so here I am, back again.  I’m working towards getting my site hosted and finding themes and layouts and I really want to dive into everything running a blog entails and I’m still learning, but it’s something I really want to do.  I want to make this blog the best it can be.  All I can do is keep trying.  For now, posts may be a little sporadic and may not have a theme so to speak but I’m really working on it getting it all together and making it something worth putting out there and worth reading, so please bare with me.  So, if you have any words of motivation or encouragement or any advice feel free to comment I would greatly appreciate it. If you took the time to read this, thank you again I appreciate it so much.  I hope everyone is having a wonderful day and as always thanks for reading.

My January Ipsy Bag

Hello friends,

Good morning and welcome back to my blog.  Today I thought I would share with you what’s in my January Ipsy Glam bag.  So, if you don’t know what Ipsy is, it’s a subscription service that is $10 a month and you get 5 different beauty, skin care or hair care products to try out.  I love getting and trying new products and think it’s so fun and exciting to see what I receive in my bag every month. I just received mine a couple of days ago.  Some of the products I am familiar with and some I am not so some of these will just be my first impressions.

IMG_2468

First of all I love the bag, it’s so bright and colorful and I love those colors together.  Looks very 80’s.  So, let’s get to what’s inside.

IMG_2469

Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo.  I don’t use a lot of dry shampoo so I’m not really all that familiar with exactly how they work or what it does for your hair but according to the description it soothes the scalp while absorbing any oil and product buildup and doesn’t leave any white residue and restores strength and softness.  It smells nice and has quite a forceful spray.  Retail price on a full size 6 oz bottle is $44.

IMG_2472

Seraphine Botanicals Raisin and Cream Long Lasting Creamy Lip Stain.  The description says it contains hydrating ingredients like shea butter and grape extract.  I really like the color and it’s very pigmented and it’s supposed to be very long lasting.  It applies really smoothly and has a nice scent.  I think it smells kind of like a grape popsicle.  It’s vegan and cruelty free. Retail price is $24.

IMG_2471

Purlisse Blue Lotus Seed Mud Mask and Exfoliant.  This is a 10 minute facial that gently resurfaces, detoxifies, brightens, tightens and smoothes.  It’s for all skin types as well as for sensitive skin.  It contains Blue Lotus Seeds, Bamboo, White Clay, Mushroom extract, Ginger, White Tea and Rice Bran Water.  It doesn’t really have a scent, very smooth, creamy consistency.  I’m excited to try this one out.  Retail price for a 2.5 oz bottle is $48.

Emma V.S.N.P Nail Polish in the shade Mia Is My BFF.  I’m not familiar with this brand but I really like the pretty lilac purple color, would be really pretty for Spring.  It’s made in the USA and claims to last for up to one week.  It says it dries quickly and is free from 7 different kinds of chemicals. Retail Price is $4.

TheBalm Cosmetics Mary-Lou Manizer Highlighter and Eyeshadow.  This looks like a very pretty highlighter.  It’s very pigmented, very creamy consistency.  It swatches very shimmery.  I’m excited to try this one out, very pretty shimmery, golden honey shade.  This is also a cruelty free product.  Retail price for full size $24.

So, that’s it for today’s post.  I hope you all enjoyed it.  I am excited to try out these new products.  For any of you out there that get ipsy, leave a comment below on what products you got in your bag this month.  I hope everyone is having a wonderful day and as always thanks for reading.

Milani Setting Spray Review

Hello friends,

Good morning and welcome back to my blog.  Today’s post is going to be my review of the Milani Make It Last Setting Spray.  I’m not an expert when it comes to makeup and setting spray is one of those products that once I’ve found one that does what it’s supposed to do I will stick with it.  I heard a lot about this setting spray on YouTube when it first came out in stores. It’s not new and I’m pretty sure it’s been out since last year but  I really wanted to try it.  It was hard to find because my local Walmart only recently started to carry Milani products, which I’m really happy about because they are some of my favorite drugstore products.  Anyway, when I finally found it, I grabbed it and it has been worth it.  I’ve been using this spray for a while now and I really love it and thought I would share my thoughts on it.

IMG_2466

First of all, the retail price on this is $8.97 at Walmart.  I really like the packaging. It comes in a frosted plastic bottle, which to me, just looks pretty.  It’s easy to spray and has a very fine, light mist and has a nice, fresh smell.  It feels very hydrating and refreshing and it’s not oily or sticky.  It locks everything in place and gives my face a natural looking finish and just sets my makeup nicely.  I have combination skin and this makes my makeup last throughout the day and I don’t even have to touch it up halfway through the day.  I just think it’s a really good product that does what it says.  I would give it 5 out of 5 stars and would definitely recommend giving it a try.  My bottle is almost empty and I will most definitely be repurchasing.  It’s affordable and Milani is a cruelty free brand.

So, that’s it for today.  I hope this post was helpful and informative.  If you have tried this product feel free to leave a comment below with your thoughts or any new products you think I should try.  I hope you are all having a wonderful day and as always thanks for reading.

Favorite Throwback TV Shows

Hello friends,

Good afternoon and welcome to my blog.  This post is a bit later than usual today.  I had it all typed up and was putting a few finishing touches on it and somehow lost everything I had.  Needless to say it was quite frustrating.  Anyway, here we are, trying again.  For today’s post I thought I would do a throwback Thursday post of the tv shows I watched growing up.  The list was rather long but I managed to narrow it down to 10 of the shows I watched on a regular basis. Here they are in no particular order:

download (7

Alf.  (1986-1990) NBC.  A sitcom about a fuzzy, friendly alien named Gordon Shumway, from the planet Melmac.  His space ship crash lands in the garage of the normal suburban Tanner family.  The story centers around the family and their daily adventures with “Alf” and their determination to keep him hid from the government.

download (2)

Growing Pains (1985-1992) ABC. Sitcom about The Seavers, a psychiatrist who moves his practice into their home so his journalist wife can go back to work.  The story revolves around the lives of these two and their children and the normal challenges of raising a family.

download (3)

Who’s The Boss. (1984-1992) ABC.  Sitcom about a widowed father and former ballplayer who takes a job as a housekeeper for a wealthy advertising executive in New York.  He moves in with her and her son and her mother along with his daughter and together they must learn all learn how to adjust to their new living situation as sometimes their personalities clash.

download (4)

Saved By The Bell (1989-1993).  NBC.  A sitcom about the lives and relationships of 6 teenage best friends as they navigate adolescence at Bayside High in California.

blossom

Blossom. (1990-1995) NBC A sort of coming of age sitcom based around Blossom Russo, a young girl facing the challenges of growing up along with her divorced musician father, two older brothers and quirky and spunky best friend, Six.

images

Step by Step (1991-1998) ABC.  This was sort of a new Brady Bunch, a sitcom based on a divorced contractor and a widowed beautician, each with three children who meet and fall in love and must learn how to all live together as one, big, happy family.

boy meets world

Boy Meets World (1993-2000) ABC.  Another sort of coming of age sitcom about a boy named Cory who along with his best friend, Shawn and his one true love, Topanga face the challenges of middle school, high school and then college and just growing up in general.

download (5)

Full House (198-1995) ABC.  Sitcom based on a widowed father raising three young daughters alone until his best friend and brother in law move in to help out.  I have probably seen every episode of this show and it even has it’s own spin-off called Fuller House, now airing on Netflix, which I have also seen every episode of so far.

images (1)

Home Improvement (1991-1999) ABC.  A sitcom about Tim “the toolman” Taylor, the host of a home improvement television show who is definitely not exactly the most “handy” handyman. He and his wife, Jill raise their three boys and occasionally get advice from their eccentric but wise neighbor, Wilson, who lives on the other side of the fence.

download (7)

Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air (1990-1996) NBC.  In this sitcom Will Smith plays a street smart teenager from a rough neighborhood in West Philadelphia who gets into a fight, so his mom sends him to live with his wealthy aunt and uncle and their children in Bel-Air, California.  The iconic theme song pretty much sums it up.

That’s it for today’s post.  It was still a rather long one.  I hope you all enjoyed it and didn’t find it too boring.  What was your favorite show growing up?  Maybe you watched some of these as well.  Feel free to leave a comment below.  I hope you are all having a wonderful day and as always thanks for reading.

Spotify Song Shuffle

download22

Hello friends,

Good morning everyone and welcome back to my blog.  Today’s post is a post that I had originally seen as the Ipod Song Shuffle but since I hardly ever use my Ipod anymore and all my music is on my phone I thought it would be more relevant to use my Spotify current favorites playlist.  These are just some of the songs I am loving and listening to over and over at the moment.  So, I thought I would just put it on shuffle and tell you the first 10 songs that it plays.  Let’s get started.

  1.  No Parallels-Hands Like Houses
  2. Thunder-Imagine Dragons
  3. The Pressure-Jess and Gabriel
  4. Let Me Go-Hailee Steinfeld (ft. Alesso, Florida Georgia Line and Watt)
  5. Scars-Boy Epic
  6. In The Blood-John Mayer
  7. Higher-The Naked and Famous
  8. Ground Control-All Time Low (ft. Tegan and Sara)
  9. Stars-Alessia Cara
  10. Need You Still-RVRB

So, there they are, the first 10 songs on my Spotify current favorites list.  I hope you all enjoyed this post.  I just thought I would share with you some of the music I am currently listening to and loving at the moment.  If you’ve never heard of some of these, check them out, maybe you will find a new favorite song.  I know this post was pretty simple but I find it interesting to see what people are listening to and I love finding new music.  Feel free to share your favorites songs in the comments below, I would love to check out some I’ve never heard before.  I hope you are all having a lovely day and as always thanks for reading.

Physicians Formula Butter Blush Review

Hello friends,

Good morning and welcome back to my blog.  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  So, today’s post is going to be my review of the Physicians Formula Butter Blush in the shade “Vintage Rouge.” I know this product isn’t new but I’ve been using it a lot lately and wanted to share some of my thoughts on it.  I purchased this product at my local Walmart and the retail price is $10.63.

Now, when it comes to blushes, when I find one that I like, I usually stick with it.  I don’t buy a lot of new ones like I would a new full coverage foundation or a good volumizing mascara but I had heard good things about these and it was really pretty so I thought I would give it a try and it has become one of my absolute favorite blushes.  It’s the one I reach for most often.

First off, the packaging is a bit chunky, but I don’t mind so much.  It comes in a plastic compact that snaps shut.  I like that you can see through it so you can tell what shade it is.  It comes with a mirror inside and a small brush.  However, I prefer to use my wet n wild blush brush when applying it instead of the one that comes with it.  I absolutely love the scent, it smells amazing.  It’s like a coconut scent just like the bronzers, like a beachy, tropical vacation.  I really like this shade as well.  It is a lovely rosey pink shade and it has really good pigmentation.  It’s a smooth, soft and creamy texture and is easy to apply and blends out nicely.  It’s buildable and it give a nice, healthy, sun-kissed look that lasts throughout the day.  I just really love this blush.  It’s affordable, cruelty free, hypoallergenic and dermatologist approved.  I would give it a 5 out of 5 stars and would definitely recommend giving it a try.

So, that’s it for today.  I hope you found it helpful and informative.  Feel free to leave a comment below with your favorite blush or just your favorite makeup product in general and what you like most about it.  I hope you all have a wonderful day and as always thanks for reading.
